Yili offers zero-carbon milk - food tech news in Asia

Yili, one of the leading dairy companies in China, launched the first zero-carbon milk in March 2022. The brand’s satine A2β-casein organic dairy milk received the PAS 2060 certification on carbon neutrality from Bureau Veritas, a world leader specialized in testing, inspection, and certification services. The company has realized carbon neutrality in its full life cycle.

The chairman and CEO of Yili Group, Mr. Pan Gang, stated the launch marks an imperative breakthrough of becoming carbon neutral after China announced its 2030/2060 climate goals (peaking carbon emissions by 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality by 2060).

As a leading manufacturer of dairy products, Yili Group is committed to practicing its social responsibilities under the guidance of carbon neutrality to work together with its business partners and forge ahead towards a green, low-carbon, and sustainable future.

Yili Group is moving toward green development at a faster pace. In World Economic Forum 2007, Mr. Pan Gang proposed the concept of “green leadership”. In 2009, the concept was elevated to a “green industrial chain strategy”, which promotes green production, green consumption, and green development. In 2021, Mr. Pan Gang put forward the goal of “prioritizing social values”, showing the company’s commitment to peaking carbon emissions and achieving carbon neutrality.

Yili has been committed to implementing carbon emissions reduction with great efforts in initiating the Modern Smart Healthy Valley zero-carbon five-star demonstration project in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia province. The brand’s first zero-carbon factory received the certification of carbon neutrality.

The company has realized net-zero greenhouse gas emissions from raw material reception, production, transportation, consumption, and waste disposal when producing zero-carbon milk.

Yili’s debut of zero-carbon milk marks a milestone for the low-carbon development of China’s dairy industry and sets a clear direction for low-carbon life and low-carbon consumption.

Looking ahead, we are looking forward to Yili’s new move towards a better future. We will follow up on the related news and update our readers.
