Thai rice prices have reached the highest in 7 years due to the coronavirus outbreaks. The rise in prices is because of the higher demand for Thai rice. Importers rushed to stock up the rice warehouses while exporters restricted shipments.

According to the Thai Rice Exporters Association, the price of the 5% broken white rice (the industry benchmark) rose 12% from March 25th to April 1st. The price jumped from under $500 per ton last week to the highest level since late April 2013. Rice prices had . . .
