On May 15, Fried chicken chain Popeyes opens its first China store in the financial hub of Shanghai despite the coronavirus pandemic hammering the industry. It was reported that more than 1,500 people stood in line, waiting for over 3 hours outside the Popeyes store.

Popeyes is an American multinational chain of fried chicken fast food restaurants founded in 1972 in New Orleans. It is currently a subsidiary of Toronto-based Restaurant Brands International, which also owns Burger King and Tim Hortons . . .
