In 2020, the Chinese standard for plant-based meat will be published by Plant-Based Foods Alliance China, including the standards for vegan meat, plant-based meat and cell-grown meat. These standards main purpose is to achieve better development of plant-based meat in China, including ingredients, nutrition value, flavor, taste and quality.
The meat market in China will reach 38 million tons by 2050. There must be synergy between plant-based meat, cell-grown meat and traditional meat products to address the meat shortage in the future. More food technologies are needed in order to increase production in this innovative field of meat products.
