Meat consumption continues to decline, and plant-based food opportunities increase!

New retail sales data from the US, UK, and Germany highlights the continued decline in both traditional meat sales and per capita meat consumption. Reasons for the decline include a long-term consumer shift to plant-based foods and macroeconomic pressures that continue pushing up the price of animal protein.

New data released by the UK government shows that per capita meat consumption in the UK fell by 14% between 2012 and 2022, reaching its lowest level in more than a decade.
